John Oliver, professor emeritus, Malone College, has served as

Convener for the last two biennial conferences of Quaker Historians and

Archivists, most recently at Earlham College. He is an editor of THE

HISTORICAL DICTIONARY OF QUAKERISM (Scarecrow), and one of three

editors of CRADLES OF CONSCIENCE: OHIO'S INDEPENDENT COLLEGES

AND UNIVERSITIES (Kent State), both to be published in 2001, and one of

four incorporators of the Orthodox Peace Fellowship in North America.

Robert P. Swierenga of the A.C. Van Raalte Institute, Hope College,

has published FAITH AND FAMILY: DUTCH IMMIGRATION AND

SETTLEMENT IN THE UNITED STATES, 1820-1920 (New York: Holmes &

Meier, 2000); and edited and contributed to FOR FOOD AND FAITH: DUTCH

IMMIGRATION TO WESTERN MICHIGAN, 1840-1960 (Holland, MI: Holland

Museum, 2000). On June 9, 2000, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands honored

him for contributions to Dutch-American studies, by naming him a Knight in

the Order of the Netherlands Lion, which is the highest honor the crown can
