Paul R. Waibel (Belhaven College) is the author of "Bad Godesberg Reforms

and the Transformation of the Social Democratic Party" in Barnard A. Cook,

ed., EUROPE SINCE 1945: AN ENCYCLOPEDIA (New York: Routledge

Publishing, 2000).
Lee Cheek, Jr.(Lee University), recently published CALHOUN AND

POPULAR RULE (University of Missouri Press, 2001).Lee continues his work

as the Executive Director of theWesley Studies Society and Publisher of THE

ALDERSGATE.

James C. Juhnke (Bethel College KS), and Carol M. Hunter (Earlham College)

are authors of THE MISSING PEACE: THE SEARCH FOR ALTERNATIVES

TO VIOLENCE IN UNITED STATES HISTORY. The book was published in

August by Pandora Press (Canada) and copublished by Herald Press,

Scottdale PA. The book is a revisionist survey of main themes in U.S. history

from a peace perspective. It will be the focus of the CFH Breakfast session at

the January 2002 AHA meeting (see elsewhere in this NEWSLETTER).

Paul E. Michelson (Huntington College) published one of the seven core

country articles (on Romania), along with six other articles, in Richard Frucht,

ed., ENCYCLOPEDIA OF EAST EUROPE: FROM THE CONGRESS OF

VIENNA TO THE FALL OF COMMUNISM (New York: Garland Publishing,

2000), which was named a CHOICE Outstanding Academic Book for 2000.

He also edited and made a contribution to NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN

CORNELIA BODEA (Iasi: Center for Romanian Studies, 2002) and wrote a

piece on "Romanian Unity, 1859, 1918, 1989: Beginnings, Opportunities...And

Illusions" in: Kurt Treptow, ed., TRADITION AND MODERNITY IN

ROMANIAN CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION, 1600-2000 (Iasi: Center for

Romanian Studies, 2001). He also represented the CFH at the recent

presidential inauguration at Taylor University.
