KEEPING THE FAITH

Religious Freedom, Human Dignity, and the Public Good
June 6-8, 2002

Trinity Western University and the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada

will be sponsoring an international conference on religious freedom at Trinity

Western University, Langley, British Columbia, Canada, June 6-8, 2002.

Challenges to religious freedom seem to be part of the human condition. In

varying degrees, followers of Jesus have experienced opposition, including

persecution, for two millennia. Followers of other faiths have experienced

similar restrictions. In our day restrictions continue, and at times intensify,

even in advanced democracies.

This conference, occasioned in part by the historic 2001 Supreme Court

of Canada decision on religious freedom, will focus on the following themes:

human dignity and religious freedom, global trends in religious freedom

(concentrating on restrictions rather than outright persecution), religious

freedom in Canada (legal, political, social, and educational), public benefits of

religious freedom, citizenship and freedom, and pluralism and freedom.

Confirmed speakers include Dr. David Novak and Dr. Peter Marshall. There

will be a published volume of selected conference papers.

Although the evening sessions will be open to the public and will have

a more popular appeal, the conference is organized primarily as an academic

and professional assembly. For more information, contact:
