Mission

Huntington University Graduate School provides Christ-centered, quality counselor training that promotes both scholarship and service. Our students work to redeem the world one client at a time through understanding and applying our core values of grace, truth, awareness, reconciliation, and community.

Grace

We believe that God offers grace (undeserved mercy and favor) through the person and work of Jesus Christ. We strive to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus and freely offer this grace to our clients.

Truth

We believe that God is the author of all truth. God's truth is revealed through His word (The Bible) and His world (The sciences such as psychology, counseling, etc.). We will diligently pursue truth applying it to our lives and the clients we serve.

Awareness

We constantly strive to be more aware of our clients, our God, and ourselves. We are most effective when we are fully aware, so we strive to be self-aware while being fully present with our clients. We will respect and work within the diverse life experiences and values that our clients bring to us.

Reconciliation

We believe that we were created for relationship and have a need for healthy attachment. We will work toward reconciliation in the relationships of our clients. When reconciliation is not possible we will help our clients work toward forgiveness.

Community

Because of our need for healthy attachment, we grow best with the support and challenge (accountability) of a community. Both scripture and research support the truth that people grow and sustain growth with appropriate social support. We will commit to the influence of community in our lives and in the clients we serve.

All of our faculty strive to teach and model the above values in all of our interactions with students.

Graduate Counseling Programs in Indiana

Because Indiana's licensure requirements are more stringent than most other states, students who complete their degree at Huntington often have fewer roadblocks in state-to-state licensure mobility. As Huntington's MA in Counseling meets or exceeds all of Indiana's standards for licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), students from other states needing to complete licensure requirements can do so at HU. Learn more.
