Tyler Welker

Visiting Instructor of Digital Media Arts

Tyler Welker graduated with honors from Huntington University as one of the first DMA majors back in 2008. While attending Huntington, one of his animated short films won first place in the TV Entertainment Feature category of the 2007 College State Awards for the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters. Another one of his animated short films was presented in Wheaton College’s “LEAST” festival in 2006. As a senior he won Huntington University’s Communications Department Award.

After graduating, Tyler worked as the Lead Animator at Sound Ideas in Columbia City, Ind. Sound Ideas is a media-based creative group that, since 1996, has served marketers, sales trainers and meeting planners in medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer markets.

While working at Sound Ideas, Tyler also taught night classes as an Adjunct Instructor at ITT Tech in Ft Wayne. In 2009, Tyler started teaching night classes as an Adjunct Instructor at Huntington University.

In 2010, while continuing to teach as an Adjunct Instructor at Huntington, Tyler started his MFA in 3D Animation at the Academy of Art University as well as formed his own freelance business called Infused Digital Media, Inc. His freelance experience includes several jobs ranging from animated instructional videos and 3D product models for eBooks to logos and business card designs.

Tyler is married to Kristi Welker ('09 Huntington graduate in Youth Ministries), who has worked as an Admissions Counselor of Online and Adult Degree Programs at Huntington University since February 2012. They are active members of College Park Church and are expecting their first child in July.
