Prior to coming to Huntington University in 2001, Mrs. Turner taught in the Education Department at Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas. She has twenty years of teaching experience in public education in Kansas and Illinois with the last sixteen being in Special Education. Public school licensing areas include: K-12 Physical Education, K-9 Learning Disabilities, and K-9 Social Studies, Comprehensive. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Greenville College in Illinois and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology with emphasis in Learning Disabilities from Wichita State University in Kansas. At Huntington she teaches Education of the Exceptional Child, Education of the Exceptional Adolescent, Elementary Social Studies Methods and Materials, Assessment for Mild Intervention, Foundations of Special Education and Social and Cultural Geography. Professor Turner also supervises student teachers. Since moving to Indiana Mrs. Turner has been pursuing doctoral studies at Ball State University. She and her husband Gary, who is the Athletic Director and tennis coach at Huntington University, are the parents of three children and enjoy tennis, swimming, and traveling in their spare time.
