Dr. Cynthia Steury teaches in the education department and serves the institution as assistant dean for faculty development and as a professor of education. Her teaching load includes courses in children’s literature, classroom management and organization, mathematics methods, and field experience supervision.

Kathy Rhodes, Huntington University, a Christian college

Kathy Rhodes
Director of Clinical Experiences

Kathy Rhodes is the director of clinical experiences for the education department at Huntington University. She graduated from Huntington University with a degree in English education and earned a master's degree in English from Purdue University (the Fort Wayne campus). She taught both middle school and high school English for a total of 35 years with the last 25 at Huntington North High School.

Dr, Joni Schmalzried, Huntington University, a Christian college

Assistant Professor of Education

Within her degrees, Dr. Schmalzried is licensed to teach students with learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, mild cognitive disabilities, moderate cognitive disabilities and severe disabilities. She also holds an administrative license as a director of exceptional needs.

Beth West came to Huntington University in October 2008 joining the Education Department as department secretary.

Dr. Susie Boyer, Huntington University, a Christian college

Dr. Susie Boyer
Assistant Professor of Education

Professor Boyer is assistant professor of education for early childhood, elementary language arts, and elementary science methods courses. In addition, she directs the study program housed at Thornhill Nature Preserve, teaches in the Master of Education and EXCEL (adult studies) programs, and supervises student teachers.

Dr. Holtrop teaches curriculum design and technology courses in the Master of Education program. His administrative duties include overseeing the graduate and adult studies programs on campus and directing the Master of Education graduate program.

Dr. Priddy came to Huntington University in 1990 and teaches the reading and social studies elementary methods courses as well as two courses addressing diverse learning needs in the elementary classroom.
