Nurturing and Reflective Teachers:

A Christian Approach for the 21st Century

3.1.10 Concluding Activities for Section 1 of the text:
  1. What key ideas have you gained, from Chapters 1 – 9, of worldview and cognition?
  2. What ideas, expressed by the authors of the chapters in this Section 1, seem compatible?
  3. What ideas, expressed by the authors of the chapters in this Section 1, seem to conflict with one another?
  4. As a result of (b) and (c) above, how might you resolve these difficulties associated with lack of compatibility and/or apparent conflict that you have identified?
  5. What elements of your own teacher preparation or education were missing? What might you do to compensate for these deficiencies in relation to (i) your own personal practice now; and (ii) so that your students will not fall into the same ‘potholes’?
  6. Where are you now in relation to these matters? Where do you need to be? How might you get there? With what implications and costs?
  7. As a result of your engagement with learning activities in Chapters 1 to 9, what are the most urgent actions that you need to take to address issues that are now of concern to you?
  8. Prayerfully reflect on the interaction of your own philosophy, worldview and cognitive frameworks as you have practised these over the last 2 years. In what ways do you believe that the Lord would have you change or modify some of the foundations of your personal and professional life? How might these changes be identified and initiated? How could you assess when actual change has occurred?
