Student Teaching Checklist

Every teacher education candidate desiring to student teach must:

  • Be admitted to the Education Program

  • Have completed all program requirement by the student teaching semester

  • Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in both all-college cumulative and major area of study

  • Have submitted a Student Teaching Application to the Education Office by the first week of November prior to the year of student teaching

    • Student Teaching Application must include:

      • Full name

      • Addresses and phone numbers (home and college)

      • Semester and year student teaching is desired

      • Grade preference and content area(s)

      • Listing of experiences with children and youth

      • Autobiography

      • Philosophy of education

      • Criminal history check

  • Have taken the Praxis II prior to being confirmed for student teaching.

    • No candidate will be confirmed for a student teaching placement until the Praxis II has been taken.
