ERC BUSINESS PROFILE: ALLEN COUNTY WAR MEMORIAL COLISEUM The Enterprise Resource Center at Huntington University has given students the opportunity to test the particular career path of interest to them. The ERC also allows businesses an opportunity to have fresh perspectives and new ideas from students eager to learn. Paul Viglianti, of the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, had never heard of the Enterprise Resource Center until 2005 Huntington University graduate Tim Burris contacted him via e-mail to find out if there were any intern openings in 2003. Burris was appointed the first internship at the Coliseum in December of 2004. Burris and another student, Kurt Cline, then a Huntington University senior, were involved in a “comprehensive arena management program.” The program covered 90 days and gave the students the opportunity to work in 12 different areas and with 12 different facility administrators. “I feel that the most significant thing about my experience was gaining networking that will help me out in my job search,” Cline said. The areas the students worked in included working with the General Manager, Manager of Marketing and Media Services, the Ticket Office, Guest Services, and Catering and Concessions to name a few. The Memorial Coliseum deals with 1,960 events per year and more than 1.1 million guests. The Enterprise Resource Center at Huntington University – we’re all about pairing Huntington University students with area businesses for internships, practicum experiences, class projects and special projects. |
