ERC STUDENT PROFILE: RENEE
(ROBBINS) LONG
“If you can’t communicate
what you know, you know nothing,” says Renee (Robbins) Long, who got the
chance to relate what she knew—and to learn much more—during two internships
with Vera Bradley Designs. She worked in PR and sales promotion, but she’s
especially proud of her role in the 2004 Vera Bradley Golf and Tennis
Classic, which raised over $540,000 for breast cancer research.
“My experience at Vera Bradley was like nothing I could have ever expected,”
Renee says. “By getting out of the classroom and really experiencing how a
business works day to day, I’ve been able to find the areas I love.”
Renee says Huntington University prepared her well for the experience. “The
professors in the Business Department really focus on building a student’s
character, knowing that a strong, honorable character is important,” Renee
says.
She has since been offered a full-time position. “It didn’t take us long to
recognize
Renee’s potential,” says Julie North, human resources manager for Vera
Bradley. “With her personality and talents, she had a lot to offer. We
wanted her to become part of the Vera Bradley team.”
The Enterprise Resource Center at Huntington
