Huntington University Foundation

Founded in 1938, the Huntington University Foundation exists to support the mission of the University by promoting education and fostering a synergistic relationship between the University and the Huntington County community and surrounding area.

This is accomplished through:

  • Generation of financial resources
  • Raising awareness of the University
  • Assisting in the recruitment of students from the County
  • Enhancing the educational experience of students
  • Facilitating opportunities for students to remain in the area after graduation
  • Service to the University and community

Local Scholarship Fund Drive

For 70 years, the Huntington University Foundation has raised funds to support a wide variety of initiatives, including scholarships for Huntington County students. With enrollment surpassing 1,000, nearly 20% of students are from Huntington County.

Local students have directly benefited from the tax-deductible gifts of local businesses and citizens to the Huntington University Foundation. In addition, such gifts qualify donors for a special Indiana State income tax credit.

Huntington County Grant

Cash or other appreciated assets may be given to the Huntington County Grant. Scholarships created from this fund are awarded only to residents of Huntington County. The scholarship, once awarded, can follow the recipient all fours years at Huntington University. Currently, 40 Huntington County residents receive $1,500-$2,500 each from this restricted fund.

Endowed Scholarships

Huntington County students are also supported through over 30 endowed scholarships funded by HU Foundation members. A gift may be given to increase one of these existing scholarships or to establish a new one. The interest earned from the principal is used to benefit students for years to come. Endowment gifts strengthen the long-term financial health of the University. A new named endowed scholarship may be established for a minimum gift of $20,000.

Community Arts Program

Each year, the Merillat Centre for the Arts presents a wide variety of public concerts, performances, and art exhibits by professional artists, musicians, actors and dance companies. Designed for the entire family, these events enrich the quality of life for residents throughout the community.

Contributions of any amount will offset the cost of bringing the best and brightest to Huntington. Gifts to the Strickler Endowment for Community Arts will help ensure the long-term viability of our Community Arts Program. Other named Community Arts endowments can be established with a gift of $20,000 or more.
