COURSE DESCRIPTION
Case
studies, personal experiences, modern ministry practices and the rich
learning environment of the National Youth Workers' Convention
will be integrated with reading, writing and discussion to cultivate
students' skills in theological reflection and integration. This class will
be taught on location each year during the final NYWC of the fall season and
will require students to also register for the NYWC at a significantly
discounted rate. (This 3 credit hour course meets a
Theological Faithfulness
curriculum
requirement within the MA in Youth Ministry Leadership.)
A WORD FROM PROFESSOR RAHN…
Graduate-level courses are great problem-solving journeys that students
and teacher are privileged to travel together. As the guide for this
ride, I think it is only fair that students know what they can expect from
me and I communicate what I expect from students. Here are a few things
to consider before you sign up to be a part of this particular learning
adventure:
-
I promise to
be well-prepared to lead our learning experience together.
-
I promise to
be attentive to student interests/needs that go beyond the scope of this
course.
-
I promise to
lean on the Holy Spirit for both direction and power in this learning
opportunity.
-
I promise to
communicate with students in a timely manner. Pre-meeting class
assignments will be received no later than October 17 (when the course
officially begins.) E-mail & web interaction can be expected at least
weekly. Grading and final feedback for the course will be received no
later than 2 weeks after January 19 (when the course officially
concludes).
-
I promise to
make this learning experience as engaging, authentic and satisfying as I
can.
-
I expect
students to be well-prepared to participate in our learning experience.
-
I expect
students to care for fellow students
and love on one other.
-
I expect
students to approach this course as an opportunity to be faithful to the
Lord Jesus.
-
I expect
students to do graduate-quality work, completing their assignments on time
so that they may contribute to others’ learning.
-
I expect
students to relax, give their best, respect others, be real and have fun.
