Detailed Information about Financial Costs and Assistance

Every effort is made to keep costs to a minimum. Because of the generosity of friends and alumni of the university and the supporting denomination, Graduate School tuition is substantially reduced.

Tuition and Fees for 2007-2008

Tuition per Hour $300
Application Fee $20
Audit Charge per Hour $300
Tutoring per Credit Hour $285
Ministry Mentor Fee per Semester $100
Time Extension Fee $150
Senior Adult (over 55) per Hour $60

Financial Assistance

A limited number of financial grants are available from the GSCM. Students seeking financial assistance are required to complete the Financial Aid Application each semester of enrollment.

All members of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ who enroll in the GSCM are eligible to receive a financial grant in the amount of thirty-three percent of graduate tuition.

Contact one of these two organizations to apply for an alternative student loan.

CITIBANK- Citi Assist Loan- www.studentloan.com- 1 (800) 745-5473

Veterans

Veterans’ Benefits and Vocational Rehabilitation Grants provided by government agencies may be used at Huntington. The University is approved for educational training of veterans and their families under US Code Title 38, Section 1775. Licensing is handled by the registrar. Under the provision of Public Law 565, the federal and state governments jointly provide funds for grants to students who have a physical or mental impairment which constitutes a vocational handicap. The State Vocational Rehabilitation Division determines the grants which may be applied to tuition and certain fees. The registrar’s office accepts referrals for applications.

Student Scholarships

Goldie E. Donier Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund was established in 2002 to help finance the cost of ministerial students at the graduate level from any denomination or independent group. This scholarship will continue for a selected student until the student is finished with the graduate degree. Students can apply for this financial assistance through the Director of Financial Aid at the Graduate School.

Paul R. Fetters Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund was established in 2002 to assist United Brethren students financially who are studying for Christian ministry. Students can apply for this financial assistance through the Director of Financial Aid at the Graduate School.

Payment of Student Accounts

Prior to the beginning of classes, an official billing is sent to each student for the subsequent semester. Billed expenses are due by August 10 for the fall semester, December 10 for the spring semester, and March 10 for the summer semester. It is expected that the bill will be paid in full by the beginning of the semester, although students may work with the business office to create a payment plan. The phone number for the business office is (260) 359-4007.  Students may make advance payments to the University that will be held in trust on their accounts prior to receiving billings for the coming term.

A student unable to pay in full may choose to arrange private financing for educational expenses through one of several private lenders. The financial aid office is able to provide information about such lenders. Arrangements should be completed several weeks prior to enrollment.

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Novus charges may be made at the campus bookstore or used to complete payment on a student’s account up to the limit of the charge card amount.

Unpaid Student Accounts
Students delinquent in the settlement of any of their accounts with the University forfeit University privileges, including class attendance, board and room. Students whose accounts are not paid in full or are not otherwise provided for are not issued grade reports or permitted to register for a new class. Graduation cannot take place and no transcripts of credit will be issued until all financial obligations have been cleared.

A service charge of 1 1/2 % or $30, whichever is greater, is added to any unpaid balance in the student account as of the last working day of each month.

Refund Policies

Students who officially withdraw or who reduce their course credit load may be entitled to a refund of the tuition according to the following schedule. Prior to the beginning of classes, full tuition is refunded. For withdrawals after the official beginning of classes, the date used to compute any refund is the official date of withdrawal. Any financial assistance to the student is prorated. Students who have been dismissed may not appeal for refund of tuition.

For Regular 2 X 3 Classes

First Class Day 80%

After First Day No Refund

Students who are considering a reduction of their status from full-time to part-time or who are planning to withdraw during the semester should discuss those plans with the dean of the graduate school since most financial assistance is based on the number of hours enrolled and may be reduced in accordance with the number of hours maintained.
