Dr. Jerry E. Davis
Professor of Counseling;
Director of Graduate Counseling

B.S., Lancaster Bible College; M.Ed., Millersville University; 12 post-graduate hours in counseling psychology, Ball State University; Ph.D., Purdue University.

Dr. Jerry Davis is a licensed clinical social worker, licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed mental health counselor and a national certified counselor.  Dr. Davis has done private practice counseling with Samaritan Centers, Parkview Behavioral Health and for the past eight years with The Family Care Center in Fort Wayne. He is a frequent presenter at local, regional and national conferences and seminars as well as retreats and providing pulpit supply for local churches. His research interests include the integration of psychology and theology, the integration of therapy with spiritual formation and direction, personality disorders, marital enrichment, and men's issues.

Dr. Davis has a long history with Huntington University and has served in many different roles at the institution, including Director of Campus Ministries and Director of Counseling Services.  Before joining the Graduate School faculty, he served as professor of graduate counseling and director of the graduate counseling program at Indiana Wesleyan University. 

Dr. Davis is married to Debra and they have three adult children (two are married and one is engaged): Jasmine, Jesse and Patrick.  Jasmine and Jesse have given the Davis's their first two grandchildren. Madeline is the daughter of Jesse and his wife, Jen, and Sadie is the daughter of Jasmine and her husband, Brady.  When not visiting the grand girls in PA, Dr. Davis enjoys running, reading, basketball, and golf.

Dr. Gary K. House
Associate Professor of Pastoral Ministries;

B.A., Asbury College; M.Div., Asbury Theological Seminary; M.A., Trinity Evangelical Divinity School; Ph.D., University of South Carolina. 

Prior to coming to Huntington, Dr. House served as adjunct faculty at Taylor University and Columbia International University.  He has served as a senior pastor, associate pastor, and youth pastor in Indiana and Illinois.  His primary focus has been on evangelism, discipleship, and leadership training.  He also has had experience as a church planter and participated in summer missions work in Indonesia and South Korea.  Dr. House has written articles on evangelism, American revivalism, and Christian higher education.  His research interests include evangelism, discipleship, the study of contemporary culture and ministry trends, the history of American revivalism, and the history of Christian liberal arts colleges.  He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Academy for Evangelism in Theological Education, North American Professors of Christian Education, the Conference on Faith and History, and the American Society for Church Growth.

Dr. Gary C. Newton
Professor of Discipling Ministries;
Director, M.A. in Discipling Ministries (1998)

B.A., Houghton College; M.A. Trinity Evangelical Divinity School; Ph.D., Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  

Before coming to Huntington, Dr. Newton taught at Taylor University and Denver Seminary.  He has served as a senior pastor, Christian education pastor, and youth pastor in Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, Colorado, and Indiana.  He is currently serving as a pastor in a turn around church in Huntington.  He has also served five summers training pastors in Kenya.  He is the founder and director of the Huntington Kid's Club, an outreach to unchurched children in the community.  Dr. Newton's research interests are in the areas of Volunteerism, Discipleship and Small Groups.  He has written numerous articles and chapters in books.  His most recent book is Growing Toward Spiritual Maturity.

Dr. David D. Rahn
Vice President, YFC/USA Ministries;
Director, M.A. in Youth Ministry Leadership

B.A., Huntington College; M.A., Wheaton College; Ph.D., Purdue University. 

Dr. Dave Rahn is the Vice President of YFC/USA Ministries and director of Huntington University’s M.A. in Youth Ministry Leadership.  He is a youth ministry researcher, author, speaker and leadership strategist.  He is also a contributing editor for YouthWorker Journal and writes the regular Outreach Notebook column for Group. 

Dave has taught at HU for the past 20 years. Prior to that, he worked for 13 years in various capacities with Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ.  Dave has over fifty published articles and three co-authored books including: Contagious Faith: Empowering students in youth evangelism (with Terry Linhart, Group 2000), Starting Right: Thinking Theologically About Youth Ministry (co-edited with Kendra Creasy Dean and Chap Clark, Zondervan/Youth Specialties 2000) and Youth Ministry that Transforms: A comprehensive analysis of the hopes, frustrations, and effectiveness of today’s youth workers (with Merton Strommen and Karen Jones, Zondervan/Youth Specialties 2001).  Dave has led research projects to determine the effectiveness of DCLA, discover common qualities of outreach-effective student leaders, follow-up sexual abstinence commitments, map the landscape of Protestant youth ministers in America, learn common factors in youth evangelism stories, and measure the effectiveness of Urban Youth Workers’ Institute strategies.

Dave is a member and past president of the North American Professors of Christian Education, is a member of the International Association for the Study of Youth Ministry, and helped to launch the Association of Youth Ministry Educators in the United States.  He also serves on the National Ministry Council of the National Network of Youth Ministries.

His home is in Huntington, Indiana, where he lives with his wife, gets visits from his two college-age children, networks with youth pastors and—whenever possible—hangs out with high school students.
