FOR RELEASE April 4, 2001
HUNTINGTON, IN-- The Huntington College Foundation will host its next monthly breakfast on Wednesday, April 11, 2001.  Dr. Ann McPherren, chair of the Business and Economics Department, will share the results of her study on the economic impact of Huntington College on Huntington County.

The findings are the result of a professor-student collaborative research project. Completed in late 2000, this research updates McPherren’s similar 1995 economic impact study and documents the potential positive impact colleges can have on their local communities.  Her research covers many areas, including faculty-staff wages, local contracted services, and retail expenditures by students within the community.

An alumnus of Huntington College, Dr. McPherren has been a member of the HC faculty since 1981.  She holds a master’s degree and doctorate from Ball State University.

Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons. The program will conclude by 9:00 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $6 per person. First-time guests are not charged, thanks to generous underwriting by Bailey-Love Mortuary.
