HUNTINGTON, IN— Huntington College announced today that Peter Schownir will coach the Forester’s golf team for the 2001-02 year.

Schownir is a native of Huntington County. He played four years at Huntington North High School and has participated in numerous tournaments.  Most notably, he won the Huntington County Amateur Championship in 1976 and in 1997 and finished second twice.  He also qualified for the Indiana Amateur in 1979 and in 1989.  Schownir also was able to broaden his network of golf contacts during his four-year stint as Assistant Advertising Director for Golfweek Magazine.  Currently, Schownir serves as Advertising Manager at Our Sunday Visitor.

“We are excited to have Pete join our coaching staff,” says HC athletic director Lori Culler. “He has been involved with the sport a variety of ways and is a student of the game.  Pete brings many skills to our program and his expertise will benefit our student-athletes.  His success on the course speaks for itself and his enthusiasm is contagious.  We are looking forward to having Pete and his family join the Huntington College community.”
