One-Act Play Festival showcases student-directors

HUNTINGTON, INThe Huntington College Theatre Department will hold its annual One-Act Play Festival, Thursday–Saturday, May 2-4, 2002. The shows will begin at 7 p.m., each evening and are free to the public.

Thursday’s shows will include “The New Play,” directed by Eva Swan, a Theatre-Performance major from Campbellsville, Ky., and “The Bear,” directed by John Woodruff, a Theatre-Performance major from Brookville, Ohio. Friday will showcase “Icarus’s Mother,” directed by Sarah Stanek, a Theatre-Performance and Music double major from Indianapolis, Ind., and “Rhubarb Jam,” directed by Katie Harner, a Theatre-Performance major from Rockford, Mich. “Articles of Faith,” directed by Charles F. Miller, III, a Theatre-Performance major from Gratz, Pa., will anchor the play festival on Saturday.

Not only are students directing each performance, but students from the Lighting and Sound class at Huntington College are designing and executing those resources for each show, making this the first year that the One-Act Play Festival has been solely student produced.
