RELEASE

HUNTINGTON,
IN— Dr.
Terrell M. Peace, Director of Teacher Education at Huntington College,
has been a contributor in a recently published book entitled, Racism
in the Classroom: Case Studies. The book was edited by Nancy L.
Quisenberry and John McIntyre of Southern Illinois University at
Carbondale, and it is a joint publication of the Association of Teacher
Educators and the Association for Childhood Education International. This
book is a follow up to an earlier volume entitled Educators Healing
Racism. The work was also jointly published by The Association of
Teacher Educators and The Association for Childhood Education
International and was so well received that a follow up was created. Racism
In the Classroom: Case Studies is based on the writing of teacher and teacher
educators, like Peace, that responded to a specific case study dealing
with racial issues in the classroom. They also elaborated on their
responses in order to allow the readers to gain a better understanding
of the rationale behind their responses. Peace’s
contribution to the work was his response to a case study on a
confrontation between a Japanese-American Student and an African-American
Student. The argument took place in a high school History classroom, as
the two students discussed their own respective experiences with racism.
“This
book will be a very practical and helpful resource for classroom
teachers of all age groups,” said Peace. Huntington
