Jacob, Roth
earn Athlete of the Week honors

HUNTINGTON, IN— The Huntington College athletics department announced its
Athletes of the Week for the week of March 24-30, 2003. Women’s track and
field junior Nicole Jacob and men’s baseball junior Marc Roth earned the
honors for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.
Jacob,
a psychology major from Van Wert, Ohio (Van Wert High School), was an
asset to the Forester’s sixth-place overall performance at the 19-team
Jerry England Invitational in Indianapolis on Saturday. Jacob finished
third in the 800 meter run in a career best time of 2:26.74. She also
anchored the women’s 4x400 relay. Jacob is a Dean’s List honoree and a
member of the Forester cross country team.
Roth,
a business-management major from North Manchester, Ind. (Manchester High
School), clubbed two hits and one RBI to bring in teammate Josh Long in
the first game against Bethel on Thursday. In the course of nine games,
Roth’s .438 batting average has come from 14 hits on 32 at bats. He has
also garnered five runs and seven RBI’s. The baseball team is currently
4-6 on the season.
