FOR RELEASE May 5, 2003
HUNTINGTON, IN— The Huntington College athletics department announced its
Athletes of the Week for the week of April 28-May 4, 2003. Women’s track
and field junior Nicole Jacob and men’s track and field junior Jonathan
Doyle earned the honors for their excellent efforts during the week’s
competitions.
Jacob,
a psychology major from Van Wert, Ohio (Van Wert High School), ran her
best time in the 1500 meters at the Butler Twilight Invitational on
Saturday. Her time of 4:56.01 betters her previous best time by four
seconds and marks her first time to run the race under five minutes. The
time also places her eighth on the Huntington College top ten list of
all-time runners in the women’s 1500 meter run. Jacob is a Dean’s List
honoree, a member of Chi Alpha Sigma (the athletic honor society) and a
member of the Forester cross country team.
Doyle,
an exercise science major from Boardman,
Ohio (Boardman High School),
qualified to the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in
the 400 meter hurdles on Saturday. His time of 54.73 was more than half a
second faster than the qualifying mark, and moves him to second on the
Huntington College top ten list of all-time runners in the men’s 400 meter
hurdles. The national championships will be held May 22-24, in Olathe,
Kansas. It will be Doyle’s second time to run in a

hurdles at the 2002 NAIA Indoor Track and Field
National Championships.
