Verba claims Forester Athlete of the Week  honors

HUNTINGTON , IN — The Huntington College athletic department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of November 17-23, 2003 . Men’s basketball sophomore Chase Verba earned the honors for his excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.

Chase Verba, a sophomore basketball player from Angola , Indiana ( Angola High School ), helped lead the Foresters to a 3-0 week.  He scored 48 points on 62% shooting (18-29) from the field and 92% shooting (12-13) from the line and grabbed 21 rebounds in the team’s three victories.  On Tuesday, Verba had 18 points and 8 rebounds in the Foresters’ 76-67 win over Indiana Institute of Technology.  His combined 30 points and 13 rebounds in the Foresters’ two games in the Huntington College/Ness Bros. Hall of Fame Classic on the weekend helped HC defend its tournament title.  Verba was one of four Foresters selected as a member of the Classic’s All-Tournament team.  The Foresters are now 7-2 on the season and host Trinity International University Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m.

The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past seven years, Huntington has produced 45 NAIA All-American honors and 71 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
