Replogle, Beckwith earn Athlete of the Week honors

HUNTINGTON, IN— The Huntington College athletics department has announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of March 15-21, 2004.  Women’s softball freshman Julie Replogle and men’s golf senior Micah Beckwith earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week.

Julie Replogle, an elementary education major from Delphi, Ind. (Delphi Community High School), pitched a complete game shutout, 5-0, against the University of the Ozarks on Monday, giving up seven hits and striking out four. On Tuesday against Oakland City University, Replogle had a perfect no-hitter game in tact after seven innings of play with the score still 0-0. In extra innings, she gave up one unearned run on one hit, and finished the game with three strike outs in the 1-0 loss. On Thursday, she again pitched a complete game in a 2-1 loss to Mac Murray College, allowing four hits and striking out four. The Forester softball team will host the University of St. Francis on Tuesday, March 23, at 3 p.m.

Micah Beckwith, a business management major from Hillsdale, Mich. (Freedom Farm Christian School), led the Foresters with a round of 76 in a dual match-up defeat versus NAIA No. 9 Webber International University. Beckwith finished with the third-lowest individual-scored round, and his round of 76 included a one-under par 35 on the closing nine holes. The Forester golf team is next in action on April 2-3, at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational.
