Andrews, Porter receive Athlete of the Week honors

Molly Andrews, a freshman from Greenwood,
Ind. (Greenwood Community High School), was a
bright spot for Huntington College at the Wheaton College Track
Invitational this past weekend. Andrews paced the Foresters with her
first-place finish in the 10,000 meter run with
a time of 41 minutes, 21.6
seconds. Huntington finished eleventh out of a field of 20 teams
with 20.5 points. The track team next travels to Sewanee, Tenn.,
to compete at the University of the South Invitational on Saturday, April
3. Brian Porter, a recreation management major from Alexandria, Ind. (Alexandria-Monroe High School), helped the Forester baseball team stay undefeated in conference play with his success at the plate. In two wins over the Goshen College Maple Leafs, Porter banged out five hits, including a double and his sixth homerun of the season, and batted in two runs. He currently leads the MCC in seven offensive categories including batting average (.550), slugging percentage (1.000), on base percentage (.609), hits per game (1.83), RBI’s per game (1.50) runs scored per game (1.25), and homeruns (6). Last week Porter was named the NAIA Region VIII and Mid-Central Conference (MCC) Player of the Week. The Foresters are currently 6-8 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The Foresters next host Manchester College on Tuesday, March 30 at 3:30 p.m. The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past seven years, Huntington has produced 47 NAIA All-American honors and 78 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
