Rachel Tinon receives Nolle Scholarship

HUNTINGTON, IN— Alpha Chi and Indian Beta Chapter member Rachel Tinon, a junior English major from Pataskala, Ohio, has been named one of ten Alpha Chi Nolle Scholarship winners for 2004-2005. The nomination was based on a research paper she wrote while in Oxford, England, as part of a Shakespeare seminar. Her paper was titled, “Bruised Read, Smoking Flax: Shakespeare’s Portrayal of Puritanism in ‘Twelfth Night’ and ‘Measure for Measure.’” Tinon presented the paper at the 2004 Alpha Chi regional conference, where she received the scholarship.

Alpha Chi awards $45,000 a year in twenty-one scholarships and fellowships to individual members. The Alfred H. Nolle Scholarship, with a stipend of $1,500, is for the senior year of undergraduate study. For eligibility, a nominee must be a full-time undergraduate student in the fall of the academic year following his or her nomination in the spring. This scholarship is named after Dr. Alfred Nolle, who served as the Society's secretary-treasurer for 41 years. Ten Nolle Scholarships are awarded each year:
