Dinner with guest artist and theatre performance at Huntington College

FOR RELEASE--February 10, 1999

HUNTINGTON, IN— A dinner-theatre sponsored by the Huntington College Alumni Association will take place Saturday, March 6th. The reception will begin at 5:30pm and the buffet dinner with director C. McNair Wilson will begin at 6:00pm. The dinner will take place at the Huntington College Habecker Dining Commons. Following the dinner there will be a theatre production of Tartuffe performed by the Huntington College Theatre Department on the Mainstage of the Merillat Center for the Arts. The cost for the dinner-theatre production is $18.50 for adults and $16.50 for senior citizens, students and children. To reserve tickets contact the Alumni Association at 219/359-4047. Reserved tickets may be picked up at the dinner.

Tartuffe is a 300 year-old Moliere comedy about a family that is disrupted by religious hypocrisy. It emphasizes the necessity for truth in relationships, both with people around us and with ourselves. Wilson’s enthusiasm for directing Tartuffe at Huntington College is infectious.

"What do we believe in, really? What is the object of our faith and how do we know that it is Truth? What is the heart of our faith? What is the call of Christ? Tartuffe deals with all of this powerfully, directly, and even humorously. But our friend Moliere never treats faith flippantly," said Wilson.

Additional performances will be held on March 4 and 5. All performances will start at 8:00 pm. Tickets may be purchased in advanced by calling the Theatre Department Box Office at 219/359-4275. There will be limited "festival" seating for this intimate production, so people are encouraged to purchase tickets early. Tickets go on sale to the community on Feb. 17 and are $8 for adults and $6 for senior citizens, students and children. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday, 1-5pm.
