Michelsons book wins prestigious CHOICE award

HUNTINGTON, IN Dr. Paul Michelson's book Romanian Politics 1859-1871, published by the Center for Romanian Studies, has been named an "Outstanding Academic Book for 1998" by CHOICE, the book review magazine of the American Library Association.
According to CHOICE, "Titles on this prestigious list include books reviewed in CHOICE during 1998. Selection criteria include excellence in scholarship and presentation; significance with regard to other literature in the field; and recognition as an important, often the first, treatment of a specific subject in print or electronic format. Carefully selected from among the new publications reviewed in CHOICE during the preceding 12 months, OAB titles are truly the best of the best."
Michelson serves as Distinguished Professor of History at Huntington College. He joined the faculty of the Christian liberal arts college in 1974. He holds a Ph.D. in history from Indiana University, and specializes in East European and Soviet history with a particular expertise in Romanian history and culture. He has been a three time senior Fulbright scholar in Romania, has published widely, has traveled extensively, and is frequent consultant to numerous agencies, including government bodies, on Romanian and East European affairs. Michelson serves as a member and secretary of the National Board of the Society for Romanian Studies, and is editor of the SRS Newsletter. He is co-editor of the newsletter of the Conference on Faith and History.
