Public lectures focus on Millenium
FOR RELEASE January 12, 1999
HUNTINGTON, INHuntington College will host two public lectures about the Millennium on Thursday, January 14, 1999. In conjunction with a special January Term course on the Year 2000, Professors Richard Pierard and Robert Clouse of Indiana State University will present their views.
Pierard and Clouse are the co-authors of a forthcoming book, The New Millennium Manual: A Once and Future Guide, being published by Baker Books. Prof. Clouse is also the editor of The Meaning of the Millennium: Four Views, published in 1977 by InterVarsity Press, which contrasts four Christian views of the end times.
Prof. Pierard is among those interviewed for an article by Mark A. Kellner on "The Coming Secular Apocalypse," appearing in the January 11 issue of Christianity Today magazine.
The public is cordially invited to attend both public presentations. The morning session, at 9 a.m. in Room 368 of the Loew Center, will feature a discussion of Prof. Clouse's book and will concentrate on religious conceptions of the Millennium. The afternoon session, at 1 p.m. in Room 351 of the Loew Center, will be divided into two parts: a lecture by Prof. Pierard followed by a roundtable discussion on millennialism.
