Air Force woodwind quintet brings diverse music to Merillat Centres recital hall

HUNTINGTON, IN Huffman Prairie Winds will present a free concert in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Center for the Arts on Thursday, November 12 at 8 p.m. The concert will feature a wide variety of music ranging from traditional classical repertoire to show tunes and ragtime.
Huffman Prairie Winds is one of three classical chamber ensembles within the United States Air Force Band. The quintet was founded in 1984 and draws its members from the Air Force Band of Flight. Air Force concerts are free of charge and are presented as a public service to the community.
Huffman Prairie Winds released their first recording, Blue Skies, in 1994. The quintet performs throughout Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
The concert is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. General seating tickets may be picked up at the Merillat Centre for the Arts box office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or at the Huntington College Music Department, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free tickets may also be requested by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Huntington College Music Department, Attention: Air Force Quintet, 2303 College Ave., Huntington, IN 46750.
