HC Students honored at Alpha Chi convention
FOR RELEASE-- March 23, 1999
HUNTINGTON, IN
Two Huntington College students, Kristin Wineland and Kriss Hultman, recently attended the 1999 National Convention of Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society in New Orleans. Over 500 students and faculty sponsors participated. Ms. Wineland represented the Indiana Beta chapter at Huntington College as a delegate to the national and regional business meetings and Ms. Hultman, an English education major, gave a presentation on Mozart's biography in film and reality for which she received the 1999 Region V Alpha Chi Scholarship.It was announced at the National Convention that in the national scholarship competition, Ms. Hultman has been awarded one of ten National Alpha Chi Nolle Scholarships for 1999-2000 and that Maria Kurtz, another Indiana Beta chapter member, has been named first alternate for the Alpha Chi Benedict Graduate Fellowship program.
The Huntington College chapter was recognized at the convention as a Star Chapter of Alpha Chi, one of fewer than thirty chapters out of the 300 in Alpha Chi to achieve this award, and one of fewer than twenty to have received the Star Chapter Award for all four years since the award was inaugurated. It was also announced that the 2000 Region V convention of Alpha Chi will be held at Huntington College in March, 2000.
Also attending the New Orleans meeting were chapter sponsor Dr Paul Michelson, Department of History, and assistant sponsor Mrs Jean Michelson, of the RichLyn Library.
