Dr. Dwight D. Brautigam

Chair of History and Political Studies Department
Dr.
Dwight D. Brautigam came to Huntington in 1987. He received his
Ph.D. in British and Early Modern European history from the University of
Rochester and specializes in 17th century English political and religious
history. He co-edited and contributed to a collection of essays, Court,
Country and Culture, published by the University of Rochester Press in
1992. He has an acclaimed article in a 2003 book collection, Puritanism
and Its Discontents, and has also published numerous book reviews. He
has participated in summer seminars under the auspices of the National
Endowment for the Humanities in 1990 at the Bread Loaf School of English in
Vermont and in 2003 at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC. He
also participated in the Calvin College Summer Seminars for Christian
Scholarship in 1997.

Dr.
Brautigam is the department chair and advises History Education students.
Additionally, he serves as the Treasurer of the Conference on Faith and
History, a professional organization for Christian historians, and is a
frequent participant in that organization’s professional meetings.
