Dr. Jeffrey B. Webb
Professor of History
Prelaw Advisor
Coordinator, Forester Lecture Series

Dr. Jeffrey B. Webb joined the faculty in the fall of 1999. He previously taught history at the University of Chicago and Roosevelt University. His research and teaching interests include U.S. History, Religious History, and the formation of the modern state. He is the author of Christianity and Exploring God in the Complete Idiot’s Guide series as well as contributions to numerous reference works. He is currently working on a book that examines the role of the Charter of Liberties of 1701 in shaping the modern concept of a free society.

Webb teaches the following history and political studies courses:

• HS211 and 212  History of the United States

• HS361  American Religious History

• HS381  U.S. Civil War and Reconstruction

• HS368  Making of Modern America, 1900-1945

• HS487  Seminar in Early American History

Webb contributes to the Centre for Non-Western Studies through J-Term courses in the history of the West Indies and Environmental History.  The centre supports inter-disciplinary research and teaching across a range of academic subjects linked by a shared interest in Non-Western politics, culture and society.
