Huntington University inaugurated its 13th President, Dr. Sherilyn R. Emberton, at a ceremony on Friday, October 4, 2013. Dr. Emberton follows a long line of presidents who have worked to make this institution great. Learn more about the university's presidents.

commissioning ceremony

The Huntington University student body hosted a presidential commissioning ceremony at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at College Park Church. Students were responsible for planning and executing this special event. The ceremony featured a prayer from each of the classes, a speech by Dr. Emberton's mother, music by Joyful Noise, and communion. A reception followed. Participants in the inauguration will process and be seated on the platform.

Platform participants may choose whether or not to wear academic regalia. Those who do plan to wear regalia may use room 150 of the Merillat Centre for the Arts (MCA) as a green room.

Platform participants are asked to meet Professor Anita Wickersham, Assistant Faculty Marshal, at 2 p.m. in the lower level of the MCA for lineup.

Platform participants are invited to attend a buffet luncheon located in the upper level of the Habecker Dining Commons from 12:30 to 2 pm. on Friday, October 4, 2013. Habecker Dining Commons is adjacent to the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

Note: Delegates are to bring their academic regalia and wear it for the inaugural ceremony.

Visiting delegates will join the academic processional.

Delegates are asked to report to the Merillat Centre for the Arts (MCA), room 110, by 2 pm. for detailed instructions. Delegates may use this room to dress in their academic regalia. The room will be locked during the ceremony.

The processional will travel from the lower level of the MCA, up the stairs, into the auditorium, and will be seated in the lower left section.

Delegates are invited to attend a buffet luncheon located in the upper level of the Habecker Dining Commons from 12:30 to 2 pm. on Friday, October 4, 2013. Habecker Dining Commons is adjacent to the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
