·We suggest TI calculators, but others are acceptable. Please
note that you will not be allowed to use any calculator or other device on a
math test that has a computer algebra system or which can communicate with
other devices.

Graphing Calculator Expectations for
Praxis – II Exam
You will need to bring a
graphing calculator with you to the exam. See the “Mathematics Test at a
Glance” booklet for restrictions on what type of calculator is permissible.
The test expects competency in 4 uses of the calculators:
·Graphing a function;
·Finding the zeros of a function (graphically or numerically);
·Computing the derivative of a function numerically;
·Computing the integral of a function numerically.
It is quite likely that
you have mastered some or all of these operations, but in case you need some
help with the last three, here are some directions and examples on the
TI-86. If you use a different brand or model, be sure you modify the
information here to fit your calculator by consulting your owner’s manual.
