Instrumental Ensembles
Wind Ensemble
For wind, brass, and percussion performers, the
wind ensemble performs standard band literature and provides on- and
off-campus performances. May include musicians from the community in
addition to students and faculty.
Chamber Orchestra
The chamber orchestra is open to all string players by audition and performs
standard chamber string literature. The chamber strings join with wind
players from the Wind Ensemble to perform standard orchestral literature in
three major concerts each year, including the annual Concerto Winners
Concert.
Jazz Ensemble
This group of instrumentalists performs in various jazz styles. Jazz
improvisation is taught as a part of the ensemble. Performances are mostly
on campus.
Handbell Choir
A variety of literature is performed on two to five octaves of Schulmerich
handbells and hand-chimes. There are usually one or two performances per
semester, both on and off campus, and the Bells often tour with the Concert
Choir.
Chamber Ensemble
Various ensembles such as brass quintets, string quartets, and woodwind
quintets perform standard literature. Ensembles are formed as needed.
Forester Pep Band
A non-auditioned fun and spirited group of musicians, largely non-music
majors, who rehearse during the first part of Fall Semester and then
enthusiastically perform pop favorites at the Huntington University men’s and women’s
basketball games and tournaments.
Brass Ensemble
All brass instrument majors are a part of this ensemble and are often joined
by non-majors who audition for the director as well as semi-professional and
amateur community instrumentalists. They perform a variety of repertoire
from all musical periods including transcriptions and jazz.
