At Huntington, you may choose from several distinct degree programs leading to a Bachelor of Science degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree, or a Bachelor of Music degree. Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Music
In addition, the Music Department works hand-in-hand with the Ministry & Missions Department to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Worship Leadership. The Conservatory model of collegiate musical study focuses on performance where students immerse themselves in an environment of applied study and practice. While most American conservatories do offer liberal arts courses, they are viewed as merely supplemental to the central music curriculum consisting largely of practical applied study. The School of Music attached to a college or university provides more flexibility in music education with a full range of music and general education classes, support and facilities of the parent institution including dormitories and extra-curricular activities and greater opportunities to pursue minors and double majors. Huntington boasts a highly acclaimed Music Department within a Christian liberal arts college, offering the best of both models with the added benefits of small class size, more individualized attention, rich liberal curriculum choices, an 11:1 student-faculty ratio, all class instruction by highly qualified faculty with advanced degrees – not graduate students, ample performing opportunities for undergraduates, and an intimate, nurturing environment where fundamental Christian values inform everyday conversations, where teachers are mentors and friends. |
