Gordon,
Riegsecker top week’s athletic performances

The Huntington
College athletic department
announced its Athletes
of the Week for the week of
November 11 – 17, 2002.
Women’s basketball senior Sarah Gordon and
men’s basketball sophomore Justin Riegsecker earned the honors for
their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.
Gordon,
a history
education major from Wolcottville, Ind. (Prairie Heights High School),
scored her 1,000th point in Saturday’s championship game of the
Huntington College Tournament. Going into the game, she needed 27 points
to reach the milestone. With an 11-18 shooting performance, including 6-11
from behind the arc and 2-3 from the line, Gordon scored a career high 30
points going over the accomplishment by three points. In Friday’s game of
the tournament, Gordon scored 26 points with 7-11 shooting. For the
tournament, Gordon scored 56 points, brought down nine rebounds and dished
out four assists to receive recognition on the All-Tournament team. Gordon
is a Dean’s List honoree. The Lady Foresters are currently 2-2 on the
season.
Riegsecker,
a business-management
major from
Pettisville,
Ohio
(Pettisville
High School), shot 15-24 in two games as the Foresters continued their
unbeaten streak in its second week of basketball action. In Wednesday’s
game against Purdue-Calumet, Riegsecker scored 11 points off the bench,
shooting a perfect 5-5 from the line in a 78-70 victory. In Saturday’s
90-60 victory over Tri-State, Riegsecker made is starting debut of the
season. Making the most of his opportunity, Riegsecker knocked down
27 points on 12-15 shooting, including 3-6 from behind the arc, to lead
the Foresters. For the week, he pulled down nine rebounds. Riegsecker is a
Dean’s List honoree.
