Huntington College Theatre presents Mister Roberts
FOR RELEASE November 7,
2002 Mister Roberts is a Tony Award-winning play written by Thomas Heggen and Joshua Logan. A delightful comedy, the play focuses around Lieutenant (JG) Roberts of the Naval Cargo Ship, AK601, his rowdy crew and his cantankerous Captain. Mister Roberts is the standard tragic hero. Though it is Roberts’ sole desire to serve his country on a Navy Destroyer, he has to go through a series of comical situations to accomplish his goal. After gaining the crew’s respect and appreciation, Mister Roberts is transferred to a destroyer only to meet a fatal destiny. “The Huntington College Theatre Department chose to present this play in response to the new patriotism that is sweeping our nation as a result of the New York Trade Centers attack,” said Mike Burnett, Assistant Professor of Theater Arts at Huntington College. Experienced Huntington actors and actresses, as well as a few fresh faces, will perform in November’s performance. The cast includes: · CAPTAIN: Dr. Bill Bordeaux, Professor of Chemistry
· DOC: Jed Hutchison, a Theatre-Performance major from Benton, Maine · ENSIGN PULVER: Josh Scott, a Theatre Design & Technology major from Eagle, Wis.
The sailors include:
· Dave Wyneger, a Broadcast Communication major from South Bend, Ind.
