Foresters receive All-America Scholar Athlete honors

HUNTINGTON, IN—Five Huntington University spring sport athletes recently earned All-America Scholar Athlete honors from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  The award is the highest academic honor given to an individual within his or her respective sports.  The NAIA awards All-America Scholar Athlete honors to juniors and seniors who combine excellent achievement in the classroom with outstanding skill on the playing field.  For the 2004-2005 spring season, two Forester tennis players and three softball players earned the prestigious honor.  Those individuals included:

TENNIS 

• Brandon Curtis, a junior economics and finance major from Plymouth, Ind.
• Kyleigh Gast, a senior elementary education major from Claypool, Ind.

SOFTBALL 

• Melanie Zehr, a senior business and accounting major from Silver Lake, Ind.
• Ellen Eberling, a junior elementary education major from South Holland, Ill.
• Emily Burkholder, a senior English and history major from West Unity, Ohio

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past seven years, Huntington has produced 50 NAIA All-America honors and 104 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
