FOR RELEASE October 25, 2004
Sarah Kaufman, a freshman
from Ada, Mich. (Forest Hills Central High School), scored all four of the
Foresters’ goals during the week to help lead the team to a 1-1 record.
In Huntington’s 3-2 loss to Indiana Wesleyan University, Kaufman’s two
goals were the most allowed by the Wildcats’ keeper in eight Mid-Central
Conference (MCC) matches. In the Foresters’ second game of the week, a
2-0 upset win over #3-seeded Bethel College in the MCC tournament, Kaufman
scored a goal in each half to lead Huntington to the program’s first-ever
tournament victory. Huntington is currently 8-8 on the season and will
travel to #2-seeded Spring Arbor University on Wednesday, October 27, for
the 2:00 p.m. semi-finals of the MCC Tournament. David Callahan, a business management major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), scored Huntington’s final two goals against Indiana Wesleyan University to ignite the Foresters’ 4-2 come-from-behind win. For the season, Callahan is the Foresters’ third leading scorer with six goals. Huntington is 6-8-2 on the season heading into the MCC postseason tournament this week. The #8-seeded Foresters will host the #9-seeded Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan University on Thursday, October 28, at 2:00 p.m., to determine who will move on to play the top-seeded Bethel College Pilots on Saturday. The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
