Berry, Hannie honored as Athletes of the Week

HUNTINGTON, IN— The Huntington College Athletics Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of November 1-7, 2004. Basketball sophomore Amy Berry and men’s cross country sophomore Cody Hannie earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Amy Berry, a public relations major from Marion, Ind. (Oak Hill High School), had a strong performance in the Foresters’ opening tournament of the season in Davenport, Iowa.  In Huntington’s 67-46 win over Robert Morris, Berry went 8 for 10 from the field and 3-4 from the line for 20 points and added six rebounds.  In the Foresters’ 80-72 loss to St. Ambrose, she had 18 points, six rebounds and two blocks.  Her efforts during the weekend earned her All-tournament honors.  The Foresters (1-1) will host Indiana Tech in their home opener on Tuesday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m.

Cody Hannie, an English education major from Ft. Wayne, Ind. (Snider High School), had an outstanding individual performance to help lead the Foresters to a fourth-place finish at the NAIA Region VIII Championships at Bethel College.  Hannie paced the Foresters with his ninth-place finish in the 8K race with a time of 26:06.  His top-12 finish earned him All-Region honors to go along with the Mid-Central Conference honors he garnered two weeks ago with his eighth-place finish in the MCC Championships. 

The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past seven years, Huntington has produced 49 NAIA All-American honors and 91 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
