Stahl, Porterfield named Forester Athletes of the Week

FOR RELEASE April 26, 2005
Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College athletic department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of April 18-24, 2005.  Women’s softball freshman Kendra Stahl and men’s golf junior Andrew Porterfield earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week.

Kendra Stahl

Kendra Stahl, a physical education major from Archbold, Ohio (Archbold High School), had a solid week at the plate for the Forester softball team.  In two doubleheaders during the week, Stahl produced five hits, including her sixth triple of the season and her first homerun.  Her six triples are tops in the Mid-Central Conference (MCC) in that hitting category.  She also added four RBI, four runs scored, and a stolen base.  The Foresters next travel to Olivet College in Michigan to take on the Comets on Thursday, April 28 at 4:00 p.m.

Andrew Porterfield

Andrew Porterfield, a computer science major from Marion, Ind. (Eastbrook High School), was the Foresters’ top golfer in two matches during the week.  On Monday at Rock Hollow Golf Club, Porterfield led the team with a 77, which tied him for fifth overall in the individual standings.  He then followed that up with a 75 at the Malone College Spring Invitational to help lead the team to a fourth place finish.  As a result of his MCC All-Conference selection in the fall, Porterfield is the lone Forester that will compete in the NAIA Region VIII Tournament on April 29-30 at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek, Michigan.

The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eight years, Huntington has produced 52 NAIA All-American honors and 102 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
