Fode, Hannie garner Athlete of the Week honors

Kaley Fode, an Elementary Education major from Upland, Indiana (Eastbrook High School), was a solid performer at the plate in the Foresters’ five games during the week. Fode had seven hits in 13 at-bats for a .538 average, knocked in six RBI, scored six runs and added a stolen base. The highlight of her week came in Huntington’s 12-8 win over Robert Morris when she went 3-4 at the plate with three RBI and three runs scored. The 3-14 Foresters return to action on Tuesday, April 5 when they travel to Marion to take on the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats at 3:00 p.m.
Cody Hannie, an English Education major from Ft. Wayne, Indiana (Snider High School), provided one of the Foresters’ highlights in their four-team invitational on Saturday. Hannie trailed Bethel College’s Matt Wells coming into the final turn of the men’s 1500 meter run, but out-sprinted his opponent to edge Wells at the finish by 5/100th of a second for the win. Hannie crossed the line in 4:16.4 with Wells following in 4:16.9. Hannie also added a third place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.4. The Foresters will next compete in the Indiana Intercollegiate at IUPUI on Friday and Saturday, April 8-9. The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eight years, Huntington has produced 52 NAIA All-American honors and 102 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
