Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi inducts 18 scholars

Huntington, Ind.— Huntington College welcomed 18 new members into the Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi in a convocation held today in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Students were recognized for their superior academics and exceptional character.

“Membership in Alpha Chi is the highest academic honor at Huntington College and represents both a recognition of scholastic achievement and a commitment to promoting academic excellence on and off campus,” said Dr. Paul E. Michelson, distinguished professor of history and chapter sponsor for the Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi.

The following students at Huntington College received induction into Alpha Chi in 2004:

• Jennifer Joy Amstutz, a senior elementary education major from Geneva, Ind.
• Holly T. Banyash, a senior psychology major from Columbia City, Ind.
• Stephen A. Boston, a junior business accounting major from Westerville, Ohio
• Amy Cherry, a junior missions major from Brooklyn, Mich.
• Jill A. Clements, a senior psychology major from Lynn, Ind.
• Brandon G. Curtis, a junior business economics & finance major from Plymouth, Ind.
• Ryan Darr, a junior mathematics major from Adrian, Mich.
• Jami Fusselman, a senior mathematics education major from Huntington, Ind.
• Ashley Gonterman, a junior physical education major from Roanoke, Ind.
• Andrew Jackenheimer, a junior chemistry major from Ashland, Ohio
• Kevin Russell Krauskopf, a junior history major from Fremont, Ind.
• Anna Lee, a junior English major from Noblesville, Ind.
• Rebekah Leigh Nimtz, a junior English major from Cromwell, Ind.
• Emily Padilla, a junior biology major from Rochester, Ind.
• Chad Steven Pryor, a junior business management major from Sheridan, Ind.
• Jenna Rodgers, a junior cross cultural ministries major from Franklin, Pa.
• Christine Shook, a junior not-for-profit business major from Franklin, Ind.
• Kristi Thompson, a junior graphic design major from Becker, Minn.

Alpha Chi is a national honor society for undergraduate juniors and seniors in all academic disciplines. In 1997, it celebrated 75 years of activity. Its objectives are the stimulation, development and recognition of scholarship and those elements of scholarship that make scholarship effective for good.

The Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society was established in 1967. It is active in the regional and national activities of Alpha Chi and was named the National Chapter of the Year in 2001. This past year, for the ninth consecutive year, The Indiana Beta Chapter was selected as a Star Chapter of Alpha Chi.

The motto of Alpha Chi nationally is the same as that of Huntington College: “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”
