Huntington College Theatre Company presents Pippin

FOR RELEASE October 29, 2004

Senior Dan Olson plays Leading Player in Pippin, a production to be presented in November by the Huntington College Theatre Company.

HUNTINGTON, IN— Newly appointed assistant professor of theatre arts, David Shamburger, will make his Huntington College directing debut with Pippin. This brilliant score will premiere on November 11, at 7:30 p.m., in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.  Additional performances can be viewed on November 12, at 7:30 p.m., and November 13, at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m.  Tickets may be reserved by calling the Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office at (260) 359-4261.  Admission is $8.00 for the general public, $6.00 for seniors, and $4.00 for students.

Set in the court of the eighth century Holy Roman Emperor, Pippin, the man born to be Emperor, has a problem—boredom.  As eldest son of Charlemagne, Pippin grows weary of books, war, love, and politics.  In his quest for happiness, he finally finds fulfillment only in peaceful domesticity. This dazzling score, written by Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson, proves meaningful for a college audience as a modern allegory of a young graduate in search of a purpose to life.

The cast of Pippin includes Christopher Betz (Blissfield, Mich.) as Pippin, Jacob Lehmann (Monticello, Ind.) as Charles, Terry Hurst (Rochester, Ind.) as Lewis, Amber Patrick (Columbus, Ohio) as Fastrada, Becca Rodgers (Lacon, Ill.) as Catherine, Conner Burnett (Huntington, Ind.) as Theo, Dan Olson (Shullsburg, Wis.) as Leading Player, and Laura Brautigam (Westfield, N.Y.), Marissa Chittick (Indianapolis, Ind.), Josh Christenson (Carol Stream, Ill.), Kylie Edmonds (Bourbon, Ind.), Ashley Guldbeck (Fort Wayne, Ind.), Kristen Kohaut (Hackettstown, N.J.), Keeley Lewis (Manchester, Iowa), David Magnus (Guelph, Ont.), Neil Rupp (Blissfield, Mich.), Lindsay Stalf, (Angola, Ind.) and Drew Wutke (Girard, Kan.) as Players.

The crew of Pippin includes David Shamburger as Director, Ben Kendall as Musical Director, Kristi Shamburger as Choreographer, Kathy Chilcoat as Production Stage Manager, Mike Burnett in Scenic/Lighting Design, Justin Miller in Sound Design, Ella Burnett in Costume Design, Hannah Mayo as Props Master, Matthew Chilcoat in FX Design, Brad DeYoung in Assistant Scenic Design, Zarin Barnes in Assistant Lighting Design, Ashleigh Lewis in Assistant Costume Design, Bekah Bachman as Assistant Props Master, Keeley Lewis as Dance Captain, and Nikki Barger, Kathryn Campbell, and Johanna Horrocks as Assistant Stage Managers.
