Three athletes honored for high achieving academics

FOR RELEASE March 23, 2005

HUNTINGTON, IN—Three Huntington College winter sport athletes recently earned the highest academic honor awarded to an individual within his or her respective sport.  The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) awards the All-America Scholar Athlete to juniors and seniors who display excellent achievement in the classroom along with outstanding skill on the playing field.  For the 2004-2005 winter season, one men’s basketball player and two women’s basketball players earned the prestigious honor. Those individuals included:

MEN’S BASKETBALL

• Adam Bontreger, a senior English education major from Topeka, Ind.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

• Betsey Bean, a junior exercise science major from Olivet, Mich.
• Jamie Grogg, a senior exercise science major from Huntington, Ind.

The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eight years, Huntington has produced 52 NAIA All-America honors and 102 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
