Forester Lecture Series to address urban education

HUNTINGTON, IN—The Forester Lecture Series at Huntington College presents “Strengthening Urban Educations through Christ-Centered Partnerships,” by Jonathan Wilson, and Tony O’Neill on March 17 at 7 p.m. Wilson, executive director of Youth Works in Detroit, and O’Neill, dean of students at Cornerstone Middle School, represent their organizations that partner to make a difference in inner city Detroit. The public is cordially invited to attend the lecture held in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Admission is free.

Wilson and O’Neill have participated in short-term and long-term missions, led retreats, helped with summer classes, mentored, led after school programs, sponsored a youth group, and led job training experiences for students and alumni from Cornerstone Schools. Cornerstone runs three elementary schools and one middle school that were all founded by an interdenominational group of people who care about Detroit and its children. Students will get a chance to hear from and interact with alumni who have benefited from this unique partnership.

Wilson, O’Neil, and their friends from Cornerstone Schools will also present a chapel session, “Walking by Faith and Living as a Missionary,” on campus March 17 at 10 a.m., in the MCA Zurcher Auditorium.
