Knisely, Kock named Forester Athletes of the Week

FOR RELEASE January 23, 2006

HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of January 16-22, 2006.  Men’s basketball junior Alex Kock and women’s basketball senior Janna Knisely earned the honor for their excellent efforts during the weeks’ competitions.

Janna Knisely, an elementary education major from Claypool, Ind. (Warsaw High School), earned the honor for her noteworthy performance during the week.  In Saturday’s 60-46 upset over the NAIA top-ranked Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats, Knisely went 5-7 from the field and 7-7 from the line for 17 points.  She also dished out four assists and had a game-high four steals.   In Thursday’s game at Urbana University, Knisely scored 13 points on 6-11 shooting and added three rebounds and two steals.  Knisely is currently averaging 12.4 points and 5.7 boards per game for Huntington.  The Foresters (11-9, 6-3) return to action on Wednesday, January 25, 2006, when they travel to Fort Wayne, Ind., to take on the NAIA 9th-ranked Cougars of St. Francis (15-6, 8-1) at 7 p.m.

Alex Kock, a physical education and health major from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb High School), came up big in both of Huntington’s wins this week.  In Tuesday’s re-match with NAIA Division I Georgetown College, Kock knocked down a season-high 33 points to help lift the Foresters to the 78-74 win.  He went 12-20 from the field, including 3-7 from behind the arc, and 6-7 from the line.  On Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan, Kock netted a game-high 18 points and added eight boards in Huntington’s 68-58 victory.  Kock is currently averaging a team-high 21.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game for the Foresters.  Huntington (19-4, 7-2) will next host the University of St. Francis (17-6, 6-3) on Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at 7 p.m.
