Ramey, Ganton named Forester Athletes of the Week

FOR RELEASE February 13, 2006

HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of February 6-12, 2006.  Men’s basketball junior Kyle Ganton and women’s basketball senior Jessica Ramey earned the honor for their excellent efforts during the weeks’ competitions.

Jessica Ramey

Jessica Ramey, a recreation management major from Kimmell, Ind. (West Noble High School), helped lead Huntington to a 2-0 week by averaging 17 points and 6.5 assists for the two games.  In Huntington’s 64-48 win over Goshen College, Ramey was one assist shy of a double-double as she scored 16 points and dished out nine assists.  In the Foresters’ 63-49 victory at Spring Arbor University, she had 18 points and four assists.  Ramey currently ranks third in NAIA Division II with her 5.9 assists per game.  The Foresters return to conference play on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, when they host Bethel College in their final home game of the regular season at 7 p.m.

Kyle Ganton

Kyle Ganton, an elementary education major from Coldwater, Mich. (Bronson High School), had two outstanding performances to help Huntington go 2-0 for the week.  He averaged 22.5 points on 16-30 shooting (53 percent) including 10-16 from behind the arc for 63 percent.  Ganton’s 51.2 percent season shooting percentage from the three-point line currently is second best in NAIA Division II.  He also is the Foresters’ second-leading scorer and rebounder averaging 17.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.  Huntington travels to Bethel College on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, for their final regular season contest at 7 p.m.
