Ramey, Hannie named Forester Athletes of the Week FOR RELEASE February 27, 2006 HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of February 20-26, 2006. Women’s basketball senior Jessica Ramey and men’s track junior Cody Hannie earned the honor for their excellent efforts during the weeks’ competitions.
Jessica Ramey, a Recreation Management major from Kimmell, Indiana (West Noble High School), scored 35 points and dished out 15 assists in Huntington’s two MCC Tournament games during the week. In Tuesday’s 68-55 win over Spring Arbor University, Ramey recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 assists. Against Indiana Wesleyan, she led the team with 21 points and four assists. Ramey currently ranks third in NAIA Division II with her 6.1 assists per game.
Cody Hannie, an English Education major from Ft. Wayne, Indiana (Snider High School), ran a personal best 1:56.65 to win the 800 meter run at the Fred Wilt Memorial Invitational hosted by Anderson University. In so doing, he broke Huntington’s school record of 1:57.02 set by Joel Sanders earlier this month on February 4. The time also broke Anderson University's fieldhouse record of 1:58.51, and most importantly, met NAIA qualifying standards to compete in the Indoor Track and Field National Championships in March.
